Here are just a few photos from the 2013 Arts Advocacy Day at the Capitol. I was fortunate enough to spend two days advocating for the arts, arts education, and arts therapies with more than 500 other advocates from 40 states. The day was illuminating for me, and hopefully, for members of Congress! In particular, I found the Nancy Hanks Lecture on Arts and Public Policy, delivered by YoYo Ma, to be inspiring as an arts educator.
As awesome as this day was, it is important to remember that one day is not enough! If you feel so inspired, please write to your members of Congress to remind them that the arts work, for our economy, for our educational systems, and for our communities! http://www.usa.gov/Contact/Elected.shtml
